It’s not their fault when children are attacked in a school shooting like what happened in Parkland, Florida. We should all look for what we can do to stop it from happening, but kids should be given a period in life to grow up without worrying about the kinds of things they witnessed at their school on during the shooting that took the lives of 17 victims and injured many others.
It took a matter of hours for the tragedy to pivot from talking about the kids in danger, but then the conversation ultimately became about political issues. The cameras were rolling, so it was a golden opportunity to make traction in the anti-second amendment campaign. The mainstream media is being accused of pushing an anti-gun movement by utilizing traumatized kids as their message carriers.
In a carefully orchestrated event put on by CNN, they invited certain students to speak and ask questions of those who don’t support taking guns away from law-abiding citizens. It was supposed to look like the tear-stained pleas of traumatized children, and maybe some of them were. If those emotions were genuine, then they were only let on camera after they were thoroughly vetted to make sure their emotional capacity would support the anti-gun liberal agenda.
One teen who didn’t make the cut was JROTC member Colton Haab. His questions were blackballed because they didn’t go with the rest of the program that was potentially designed, on purpose, by CNN. Haab spoke out about his experience, citing CNN as the ones who silenced his opinion. CNN didn’t like Haab’s choice of words, so they labeled the “traumatized student” as a liar.
Breitbart News reports that CNN is taking on Haab and also lashing out at the President:
“CNN’s Drew Griffin explicitly accused school shooting survivor Colton Haab of lying over the student’s claim that CNN wrote a question for him to recite at the far-left network’s widely criticized anti-gun town hall.
On Thursday evening, President Trump tweeted out criticism of CNN’s ongoing fake news crisis with a quote from Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, who interviewed Haab Thursday night.
‘‘School shooting survivor says he quit @CNN Town Hall after refusing scripted question.’ @TuckerCarlson,’ Trump tweeted, adding, ‘Just like so much of CNN, Fake News. That’s why their ratings are so bad! MSNBC may be worse.”

This is just a lie. Repeated over and over again. And yet a lie. Facts matter. https://t.co/nzXQQ9S9u6
— Drew Griffin (@DrewGriffinCNN) February 23, 2018
Griffin already made news this week for a ‘Special Investigations Unit’ report where he ambushed an innocent Trump supporter at her home — a Florida woman who might have accidentally shared a ‘Russian-coordinated event’ on her Facebook page. Griffin confronted the woman for her ‘unwitting’ crime against Hillary Clinton, put her face on camera, broadcast her name — including her Facebook display name and profile picture — and even her house number.
Griffin’s ambush resulted in the woman being personally abused and threatened by CNN viewers. Even a number of prominent voices on the left declared Griffin’s behavior ‘vile’ and ‘despicable.’”
That’s one way that most of us could agree with Griffin; facts do matter. In fact, that’s all we’re trying to do is get the news media to report the news again. It’s difficult to imagine a world where broadcast media didn’t have an agenda that they push, repeatedly, over and over again. Now, we’ve all come to grips with the fact that if there’s an opportunity to support their own political beliefs, they’re going to take it. What we haven’t decided to accept is treating a kid like they’re to blame for speaking the truth:
“For his part, Haab stands by his claim that CNN’s anti-gun Townhall was rigged with questions scripted by the anti-gun cable channel. Haab says he wanted to ask a question about school security: ‘They had taken what I had wrote and what I had briefed on and talked about, and they actually wrote the question for me.’
At that point Haab chose to drop out of the Jake Tapper-hosted event, which critics have described as an anti-gun ‘show trial.’ Tapper is facing widespread criticism for his mishandling of the one-sided event and has yet to apologize for his silence as his audience booed a rape survivor.
Before becoming CNN’s midday anti-Trump pundit, Tapper — a former Democratic operative and Salon contributor — worked for Handgun Control, Inc,. which is now the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, a well-known anti-gun advocacy group.
Haab’s allegation against CNN echoes previous scandals where the network has been caught using left-wing plants on numerous occasions. CNN is currently embroiled in a credibility crisis due to multiple fake news reports — some of which have resulted in significant backlash, forcing the network to retract.
Last week the perennial last-place network’s primetime ratings plummeted –27 percent when compared to this same week last year, far more than first place Fox News. Due to its failures on the digital end, CNN is laying off dozens of staffers.”
Everything that you see and hear on the broadcast news is carefully crafted to pivot your perception of certain issues toward what the particular station may support. The words, colors, and emotions are carefully selected to subconsciously push the viewers into believing and leaning in a particular direction. Many mainstream media outlets have become partisan outlets instead of fact-based news providers.
Colton Haab courageously spoke up when he saw the American people being deceived. He doesn’t deserve punishment; he deserves a job in news. Colton Haab was attempting to speak the truth, and now a battle ensues between him and the media giant CNN in a power grab for the ultimate truth.
